The head of Kalmykia congratulated a monk from the Central Khural on receiving the highest academic degree.

The head of Kalmykia, Batu Khasikov, congratulated the monk of the Central Khural, Tenzin Norzang (born Sanal Mukubenov), on being awarded the highest academic degree of Geshe Lharamba.

This event took place at Drepung Gomang Monastery, where the multi-day process of awarding Buddhist degrees is being completed. It took 23 years of study to obtain this high title. In modern history, Sanal Mukubenov became the first Kalmyk to receive the highest degree of Geshe Lharamba and the third monk in the republic to be awarded the Geshe degree.
