Sandschirma's Famous Bortsyk Recipe

Ingredients:


2 Packages Active Dry Yeast
¼ Cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit)
Pinch of sugar

2 Eggs
½ cup sugar
1 stick sweet butter melted
1 ½ Cups Milk

3 Cups Flour
And then
2 ½ Cups Flour


Notes

Directions:




Dissolve the 2 packages of the yeast in quarter cup of warm water, let it rise.

If the water is to hot it will kill the yeast cells, and if it is too cold, the yeast will not rise.



In a Separate bowl mix together: 2 eggs –room temperature, ½ cup sugar, 1 stick of cooled melted butter, 1 ½ cups of milk. Then stir into the yeast mixture.



When everything is combined add 3 cups of flour, and when fully mixed combine the 2 ½ cups of flour (you may or may not need a little more flour) Knead the dough until firm



Grease a large bowl (twice as large as the dough) with oil or shortening. Add dough, turning so all sides are greased.



Cover the bowl with towel or plastic wrap, in a draft free place. Let it rise until doubled.



After the dough rises, On a large surface, flour and roll dough out about quarter inch thick or a little thicker, cut into desired oblong or square shapes, cut a small line thru dough or and you can make your own designs.



Use a large deep pot for frying, use any neutral oil heat the oil to 360 degrees Fahrenheit.



Fry for 1-2 minutes, flip and fry for another minute or so.



Drain bortsyk for a few seconds on paper towel and enjoy!
