Kalmyk State University researchers presented findings from the project "Buddhist Manuscripts in the Oirat Language in Collections of the Eastern Districts of Kalmykia." The work is supported by the Foundation for the Promotion of Buddhist Education and Research.

On September 11, associate professor Badma Menyaev, senior researcher Boskha Borlykova, and associate professor Daglara Amaeva spoke online at a conference hosted by the Khovd branch of the Mongolian State University. Their paper covered Kalmyk khuruls, staff, and libraries, based on Oirat manuscripts found in eastern Kalmykia.

On September 23-25, Menyaev and Borlykova spoke online at a medical-anthropology symposium at the Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. That paper examined folk pharmacy in an anonymous Oirat collection and written evidence about Kalmyk emchi, or traditional healers. The university said the work helps preserve rare Oirat sources on history, language, culture, and traditional knowledge.
