A new wall painting of Kalmyk steppe wildlife went up in Elista, reported at 4:30 PM Moscow time on October 5, 2026, by RIA Kalmykia. The work is on a concrete wall at the city hippodrome, also described as the House of the Farmer on Ippodromnaya Street.

The Black Lands reserve commissioned it under a Presidential Fund for Nature grant after a competition for a painting about saiga and other steppe animals. The team named by Stepnye Vesti is Alexey Kekteev, Kermen Koltsova, and brothers Andrey and Viktor Kuberlinov, with Andrey Kuberlinov leading. The mural shows saiga running through feather grass, steppe eagles with prey, and wolves watching a herd.

The same artists are credited with the graffiti "Three Deeds of Buddha Shakyamuni" in Elista's 8th microdistrict and with a 6,500-square-meter mural on the Elista elevator building. The reserve said it hopes the new wall will remind residents to protect the steppe. I did not find a stable public image file for the new mural in this search.
